Given we were going right past we just had to stop in at some sailing spots, we already had the gear on the roof after all.
We stopped in at Boggy Lake which is located north off Lake Alexandrina (south of Murray Bridge). There is a little space on the edge of the lake for camping, generally for the Windsurfers to use while sailing the lake, obviously no facilities but we have our own of course. Paul had a great time sailing the lake, the location was beautiful and as with all our water stops the sunset was amazing.
We headed south through Wellington, crossed on the ferry and continued on toward Lake George.
The ferry ride was a bit of a fun start to the trip south, the coastal towns through here are very pretty and honestly we got a bit distracted and forgot to take enough pictures but there were a few. We spent a lovely night on the shore of Lake Meningie, just enjoying the peace and followed the coastline down toward Robe then on to Beachport. We didn't spent a lot of time in the places along the way but I expect we'll be back this way to give a more detailed report.
Lake George and Beachport, Windsurfers paradise in February but still a great spot to visit in November.
Beachport is a very pretty oceanside town with plenty to do and see. It has two caravan parks but no free camping so we had to 'rough it' at the Southern Ocean caravan park, not overly expensive and an easy stroll to the beach and town. At this stage I feel the need to mention that the local Bakery does the absolute best bread so check them out. The beaches are gorgeous and there is a big jetty to walk along and fish from. The fishing was a bit hit and miss, some did really well and others not so much but that's all part of the fun right? Paul had a lot of fun sailing about on Lake George, maybe not as good as the beginning of the year would have been but still not too bad. We'd highly recommend a visit to the area, well worth it.
